JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to establish, implement and enforce a robust risk management framework and systems (policies, processes and tools) covering operational, liquidity, foreign exchange and interest rate risk. Ensure compliance with Bank’s policies & procedures; Banking and Financial Institutions Act, Banking and Financial Institutions Regulations, Guidelines and other regulatory directives (e.g. IFEM code of conduct)

Financial
• In the guidance of Head of Risk and Compliance, provide co-ordination and guidance of the financial risk management activities. The responsibilities include:
• Provide independent risk oversight of liquidity risk and market risk (interest rate risk, and foreign exchange risk) through independent monitoring and routine formal meetings with the Global Markets team
• Establish a risk management culture that promotes good analysis, judgment, flexibility and balance between risk and reward
• Ensure that processes exist for the identification, classification and management of both liquidity and market risks
• Prepare the Bank’s Liquidity and Market reports and the accompanying presentation to various committees
• Work closely with the Treasury function in ensuring proactive management of ALM risks, but remain independent when performing risk assessments
• Validate and participate in liquidity contingency planning and stress testing.
• Give prompt attention to breaches of limits and guidelines
• Perform scenario analysis within the trading portfolio so as to evaluate the effects of various possible changes in the market conditions related to market risk exposures
• Periodically review the Asset & Liability (ALM) Policy and Guidelines for the Bank
• Through Quality Risk Management (internal reviews of compliance limits and preparation of periodic Risk and Compliance Reports (input to Management and Board packs))
• Monitoring of the Bank’s performance against the Liquidity and Market Risk appetite

Operational
In the guidance of Head of Risk and Compliance, provide co-ordination and guidance of the financial risk management activities. The responsibilities include:
• Ensuring that operational risk policies, standards and practices are documented, communicated to all staff and appropriately followed
• Provide the necessary operational risk management enablers (methodology, systems and policies) to stakeholders
• Monitor and analyze operational risk trends in the Bank.
• Monitor adherence to accepted operational risk management practices
• Operationalize the overall implementation of Operational Risk Management Framework
• Promote operational risk awareness and in collaboration with the Human Resources Management Function, conduct regular Bank-wide training programs on operational risk management
• Advice all stakeholders with respect to operational risk management policies, practices and standards
• Ensure employees comply with the Operational Risk Management Policy
• Monitor that action plans to mitigate operational risk are implemented and that regular feedback is received on the progress of the implementation

Requirements
• Fluency in English, with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel to maintain, improve and develop reporting tools
• Good understanding of financial risk concepts and metrics (VaR, EVE/NII, scenario analysis, stress tests, risk sensitivities, etc.), and governance frameworks
• Strong knowledge of financial market activities and main instruments
• Ability to manipulate, analyze, summarize and present data/results
• Strong quantitative, analytic and problem-solving skills
• Risk management frameworks and best practices
• The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, self-starter and communicates easily and openly.
• Strong work ethic and commitment
• Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team
• Flexible approach
• Able to demonstrate a personal commitment to taking ownership and following up
