Role Description and Purpose
Management of:
• Maintenance Team at the Vale operations in Tete Mozambique.
• Ensuring that all capital equipment is maintained to ensure SHES compliance and Operational Availability as defined by the KPI’s for the site.
• To ensure operational availability Spares control and stock management is a key dimension of the position. Asset maintenance must be managed and reported through the Master blast System.
• Team development and training needs identified.
• This role will provide Sub Regional support of up to 30% of the time.

Skills and Competencies:
The Fixed Plant Lead role uses knowledge, experience, and leadership effectively to support the Vale Moatize Operation Maintenance program in line with the organization’s strategy.
• Alignment and governance of the Vale Moatize Maintenance teams to ensure that the required business objectives are achieved
• Lead the planning, design and implementation of maintenance strategies and projects for the site to improve availability and ensure SHE compliance. Monitor, document and report to key stakeholders on the progress and performance of projects within the program.
• Strong execution focus. Proven ability to work autonomously and lead teams.
• Serve as primary point of contact and stakeholder interface for all Maintenance related aspects of the business.
• Commercial acumen in the development of cost effective and robust project delivery and engineering solutions to meet stakeholder requirements.
• Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on effective team work and personnel development.
• Ensure compliance with Master blast and Maintenance governance processes and procedures, ensuring that they are applied universally across the program.
• Support the Southern Business Unit with its capital program

Role Dimensions

Financial: Typical projects that need to be managed will vary from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands s of dollars.

Leadership: Primary customer contact for Maintenance within Vale Moatize and support role for Maintenance projects and Capability Development within African Region.

People: Direct reports: Vale Maintenance Team, multiple contractors engaged for short term project outcomes

Critical Experience and Qualifications
Degree in and / or equivalent experience engineering discipline. Qualifications in project management or other relevant discipline highly regarded.
5+ years in the management of capital projects in industry.
