Invitation for tender

Rikolto, in collaboration with the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (TCCIA) and Mbeya City Council, with funding from the European Union with co funding from DGD, is seeking tenders from eligible and qualified suppliers for the provision of construction materials. These materials will be used to build 186 improved food stalls at Igawilo Market. The aim is to enhance the safe handling, storage, and sale of fruits and vegetables, thereby improving food safety practices within the market. This effort is part of a larger initiative to ensure consumers have access to safe, healthy, and hygienic food in improved market conditions.

Suppliers interested in this tender should ensure that the materials provided meet the required quality standards and are delivered within the specified timelines. The successful supplier will play a key role in supporting the project’s goals of improving market infrastructure and promoting food safety in Mbeya City.

This project represents a significant step toward improving market facilities, benefiting both vendors and consumers by creating a safer and more efficient marketplace. The selected supplier will contribute to these positive changes, helping to foster a healthier community through improved market conditions.

Scope of work

The selected supplier will be responsible for providing high-quality construction materials as per the Bill of Quantities (BOQ). The materials will be used in constructing the 186 food stalls designed to enhance the market’s infrastructure and support the safe handling of fruits and vegetables.

Eligibility criteria

Qualified suppliers with experience in providing construction materials for similar projects are encouraged to participate. Suppliers must demonstrate the ability to meet the quality standards and delivery timelines outlined in the BOQ.

Important Notes to Applicants 

1. Late submissions, partial submissions   will not be considered.
2. All tenders must adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in the tender as described in this ToR to be eligible for evaluation.
3. To be eligible the supplier must prove that he/she qualifies for the pre-qualification by providing the following as part of the documents:

• Application letter
• Trading Certificate/license where applicable.
• Valid Tax Compliance Certificate.
• Copy of VAT certificate
• Copy of TIN certificate
• Certificate of Incorporation if any
•  Details of Relevant supply experience and reference list of major clients in the profile
