REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
The VWM is reporting to the Operations Manager (OM), KVTC

DUTY STATION
Mavimba, Ulanga District, Morogoro Region

OBJECTIVE
The overall objective of the VWM is to assist the Operations manager with supervision of Workshop, Vehicle and machines maintenance and repairs as well as discipline in the workshop department.

REQUIRED PERSONNEL
Experienced Vehicle Workshop Engineer / Manager who used to working in remote and challenging environment. The job is located in rural Tanzania (Ulanga District) with a forestry company. We are looking for a hands-on candidate that spends most of this time in the workshop but has administrative and IT skills to effectively keep records and communicate internally and externally.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Overall responsible for the Vehicle Workshop looking after the maintenance and repairs of a medium size fleet of vehicles, motorbikes, plant and generators
  • Being able ensure compliance with procedures and prescribed maintenance plans.
  • Supervising daily activities of a team of mechanics and technicians (total of 6 FTE) and ensure safety
  • Making sure all yard and workshop operations are done in an efficient, cost effective, professional and safe way.

DAY TO DAY TASKS

  • The Workshop Manager assigns, plans and reviews all the work which is done by technicians and mechanics in the workshop
  • Cooperating with other departments and co-ordinate the need for repair and maintenance of operational equipment with other departments and employees.
  • Reporting to the Operations Manager on scheduling and execution of jobs and prioritizing of work

REPORTS

  • The Workshop Manager maintains detailed vehicle logs for all fleet showing history of service and repairs as well as spares used
  • The Workshop Manager will prepare a monthly report detailing breakdowns, reliability, availability as well as other Fleet KPIs
  • The Workshop Manager will conduct bi-monthly assessment of contractor fleet vehicles in order to ensure compliance with company standards and safety requirements; assessments are done using the BeHave Software Package.

EDUCATION / TRAINING

  • Degree or Diploma in engineering field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Vehicle/Fleet maintenance and repair
  • Minimum of 2 years in supervisory role
  • Courses in Health & Safety would be considered a plus

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Fluent in English speaking, reading and writing
  • Experience working in remote location and/or Agro-Processing Industry would be considered a plus
