Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs and is opening a Maternity and Newborn Wing in 2022.

The role
• As a member of CCBRT’s Wheelchair clinical seating team and Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation team, you are responsible for the the provision, fitting, adjustment and training on wheelchairs and special seats for people with disabilities (PwD)
• Together with your colleagues, you assemble and prepare wheelchairs according to prescription; you make modifications or provide custom postural support, ensuring that each wheelchair, seat and any modification is technically safe before the user leaves the department with the new equipment. You provide wheelchair user training to the client and guardians immediately after fitting.
• You also train users in wheelchair maintenance and basic repair, or supervising such training provided by a trainer.
• You work in collaboration with other clinical professionals, administrative staff and various departments of the CCBRT Hospital as well as other health care professionals during outreach activities

The candidate
• Has a Certificate of Wheelchair Technician
• Minimum of 2 years experience as Wheelchair Technician.
• Fluently speaker of English and Swahili.
• Good in writing English and Swahili.
• Problem Solving ability and creative.
• Excellent patient management and interpersonal skills
