Search for Common Ground (Search) is a world-wide Non-Profit Organization with the primary objective to change the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial approaches towards collaborative Solutions. Headquartered in Washington DC, USA, and Brussels, Belgium with field offices in over 30 countries, we design and implement multifaceted programs that aim to transform conflict. We seek to help conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their commonalities. Operating in Tanzania and Zanzibar since 2010, Search promotes gender equality, fostering good governance, and encouraging greater objectivity in the media in collaboration with local journalists, civil society and government actors. Recently, we have also turned our attention to promoting sustainable business practices in the mining industry, creating interfaith dialogue, reducing violence against women, and encouraging peaceful collaboration between government and civil society.

SUMMARY OF OVERALL PROJECT

Search in partnership with Foundation for Civil Society (FCS) and Search for Common Ground USA (Search-USA), which supports alternative peacebuilding mechanisms at the community level to de-escalate and peacefully resolve conflicts in Zanzibar, including both in Pemba and Unguja. This 18-month project, supported by the EU, targets South Kordofan and Blue Nile states and has the overall goal to strengthen peaceful conflict transformation mechanisms to de-escalate tensions and support a peaceful post-election period in Zanzibar.

To achieve this goal, the project has three interrelated objectives:

  1. To increase the capacity of diverse community, political, and civil society stakeholders to act as informal mediators and champions for peace in their communities.
  2. To foster dialogue and collaboration among government and community stakeholders for improved conflict prevention.
  3. To increase community awareness of joint conflict-prevention efforts and avenues to peacefully address their concerns

To support this project implementation, Search is looking to contract 3 radio stations to produce radio programs in Swahili, as means to reach a wider range while increasing awareness in communities of local peacebuilding mechanisms and avenues to non-violently address tensions and conflict drivers. Each radio station will provide coverage in Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba)

The radio episodes to be produced will have an objective of:

To increase the capacity of diverse community, political, and civil society stakeholders to act as informal mediators and champions for peace in their communities.

1.To foster dialogue and collaboration among government and community stakeholders for improved conflict prevention.

2.To increase community awareness of joint conflict-prevention efforts and avenues to peacefully address their concerns.

3.Increasing collaboration among and between CSOs, media and government stakeholders to advance peaceful conflict resolution.

4.Promote the narrative of piece at the local country and national level by: -Creating and strengthening platforms to share information and dialogue on critical issues.

5.Enabling CSOs, media and government stakeholders to work together in identifying and implementing constructive solutions that directly addresses sensitive issues.

6.Increasing access to stories of collaboration across divides, challenging prevailing stereotypes and transforming mutual negative perception.

The qualified Radio Station will need to deliver the following:

1.Production of 40 episodes of 45 minutes each, based on guidance provided by Search and developed in collaboration and synergy with other involved radio stations.

2.Airing of episode on weekly basis and its recaps Submitting Media Log and report after every episode aired.

3.Posting program adverts and jingles on social medias

EVALUATION CRITERIA

  • An internal committee will assess the bids received, on the basis of the following criteria; -
  • Proven track record producing high-quality programs for a national and international audience.
  • Prior experience producing TV and Radio programs for international NGOs in Zanzibar.
  • Knowledge of the target locations and areas surrounding. Having production facilities and qualified and experienced station staff who could produce the contracted radio program.
  • A price quotation for producing and airing a weekly 45-minute radio program. Shortest delivery date.
  • Ability to produce narrative reports documenting production and feedback, as well as strong financial management for invoicing.

This will be an 18 months contract.

Bids must be sent in Tsh currency.
