Founded In 1987 CUAMM focuses on designing health system strengthening projects, with particular attention to the needs of women and children, and tailored to the specific needs of the countries where the organization carries out projects. Through its evidence based approach, CUAMM works to remove the barriers preventing communities from accessing health services, and to improve the quality of the same services, to achieve accessible, quality and equitable healthcare for everyone.

CUAMM in collaboration with National Institute for Medical Research
- Muhimbili Centre, Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development {AIGHD) is looking for two full time qualified Tanzanians to fill the posts of two (2) TB Field Staff who will work 100% in a project aiming at Improving TB case detection expected to start soon.
CUAMM wishes to advertise the following posts which are required to be filled with highly motivated and competent Tanzanian TB screening staffs on contract basis for a period of one year.

Position: TB FIELD STAFF (2)
Reports to: TB COORDINATOR
Duty station: SHINYANGA
Contract duration: One (1) year.

OVERALL GOAL OF THE JOB
The TB Field Staff are responsible for the implementation of the TB screening project which is conducted together with the ongoing HIV test and treat campaign in the region of Shinyanga. The staff will also be responsible for communicating the results to the patients, activating the household contact screening chain and cooperating with the Community Health Care Workers for the follow up. The TB Screening Staff will also take part in the data collection related to the TB screening campaigns.

S/he is responsible, together with the management of the project, of the image and reputation of the NGO locally.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE;

  • Promoting awareness on TB and providing adequate sensitization messages to the community during the preparation and implementation of screening campaigns
  • Take active part in the implementation of the testing/screening campaigns in all their practical aspects including preparing and packing the required material, arranging the venue of the campaign (gazebo, waiting area, sound amplification...), TB screening, sputum sample collecting and haemoglobin testing during the campaign, assisting the participants in their requests/needs, safely dispose the wastes, take care of the NGO/Project properties utilized during the campaign. 
  • Ensuring that clients will receive appropriate care and counseling during the test campaigns. 
  • To link the presumptive TB, anaemic or seriously ill patients with the available facilities providing appropriate care and follow them during the beginning and at the end of the treatment and document treatment outcome.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with the health providers in the TB clinics in order to facilitate the referral linkage of the patients.
  • Filling in the client registration form, case report forms including TB screening form, reporting registers and other requested documentation.
  • To initiate household contact screening using mHealth mobile phone technology
  • Assist the clients and on the proper use of mHealth mobile phone technology for household screening.
  • Ensuring identification of TB suspect client as per protocol, collection and package of sputum samples and timely transport of sample specimen to the laboratory for testing.
  • To liaise with CHWs to ensure sputum collection for TB suspected household contacts and transport to laboratory for testing.
  • To assist the project coordinator with training of CHWs.
  • To ensure timely follow up of client TB test results at the laboratory and communicate it to the facility providers, clients and project coordinator.
  • To assist the project coordinator in the scanning and uploading of Case report forms (CRFs) into the Data fax system.
  • To provide daily activity report, attend weekly meeting with the project coordinator and/or supervisor and support the TB coordinator in monthly data collection and report writing.
  • Support the TB coordinator in the screening campaigns organization. Planning and implementation.
  • Support the other staff (CUAMM staff, HUBs staff, community health workers etc.) during the testing campaigns and other project activities.
  • Being responsible of the NGO properties assigned to the testing team (motorbike, telephone, IEC material etc.). Utilize them according to the NGO policy, promptly report to the supervisor in case of any problem, damage, loss or need of maintenance.

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Required Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Desired skills

  • Minimum of Diploma in Nursing with valid practice license
  • At least minimum of two (2) year experience in the field of TB/HIV or health related project.
  • Ability to communicate in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity, empathic and non-judgmental attitude.
  • (Volunteering) experience in a reputable Health facilities and international NGO and being involved in health research are an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a multi-tasked team environment and to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle working relationships with senior officials and technical experts in Government and N605.
  • Fluency in English and Kisukuma languages will be a plus
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel).

Compensation
A competitive stipend will be offered as per Government of Tanzania regulations.
