POSITION SUMMARY
The Internal Medicine Specialist, Aga Khan Mwanza Hospital is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, specialising in management of complex medical conditions and coordination of care with other medical specialties. He/ she provides high-quality medical care to patients, utilizing the latest medical techniques and technologies, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Reporting to the Clinical Head, Mwanza Cluster


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide quality care mainly for adult patients with diseases and problems associated with the internal organ system.
• Provide consultations for patients, discuss their symptoms and general health concerns.
• Analyse records, test results and make diagnosis of medical conditions of patients.
• Prescribing or administering medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
• Monitoring patients progress and making necessary modifications to treatment plans based on patient’s progress.
• Providing long term comprehensive care in managing chronic illnesses.
• Advise patients on preventative healthcare and lifestyle changes.
• Reporting specified contagious and notifiable diseases to specified government health authorities.
• Collect, record and maintain patient’s information including medical history and reports.
• Referring patients to other medical specialists when necessary.
• Train and mentor junior Doctors to be able to independently manage patients to a high level of competence.
• Comply with Safe Care Standards in maintaining quality care for patients.
• Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and support staff to provide comprehensive and patient-centered care.

The requirements
• Minimum Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
• Must have valid Full Registration.
• Must have valid practicing License
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience post qualification ‘experience working in a similar role.
