JOB DETAILS:
The overall purpose of the job is to collate and distribute SHERQ information and manage the documentation of the Bridge SHERQ Programme by keeping SHERQ Policies and Procedures up to date. Complete Job Observations, Co-ordinate SHERQ Meetings, etc. Reporting to the General Manager, Managing Director & Management Meeting all the Safety,
Health, Environmental, Risk and Quality. SHERQ Manager will be responsible for providing
SHERQ systems administration support to the Bridge Management Teams and in particular
ensuring that all relevant communications relating to SHERQ within the Company are
distributed, receipt recorded and monthly returns and records compiled and reported.
Main Duties:
• Collate and distribute SHERQ information.
• Logging and distribution of incoming SHERQ related communications.
• Maintain Master Employee List and files (photo, ID, H&S Induction for each employee on
file), track key roles and ensure appointments in place, note promotions, movement
from one area to another, training, medicals, appointments, Incidents, etc.
• Maintain Preferred Supplier (SP) / Sub Contractor SHERQ compliance database.
• Maintain office and site based SHERQ Controlled Files and Documents
• Operate within the requirements of the Company SHERQ Policy and Procedures.
• Produce required reports and statistics in line with timelines i.e. collection and compiling of Near Miss Reports.
• Maintain key documents including but not limited to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) & New Product Acceptance Forms (NPA), Legal Appointments and Training Promote H&S Awareness.
• Carry out H&S Inductions.
• Source and distribute suitable material for Toolbox Talks (attend talks).
• Provide on-the-job refresher training to H&S Reps and 1 st Aiders (complete checklists).
• Assists the Operation with Incident Investigations (take photographs and ensures the accuracy of the details in the Incident Report)
• Keep Claim records up to date.
• Compiles near Miss Reports
• Compiles Job Observations
• Draft Written Safe Work Procedures
• Check daily Sherq ops and H&S Pre-Shift Checklist
• Record cases on Maximizer
• Maintain injury on duty (IOD) files and liaise with Workman’s compensation Assist (WCA),
• Medico and Service Providers to ensure IOD’s are handled timeously and all supporting documents are available (W.CI Forms, Resumption Reports etc)
• Produce reports and statistics in line with timelines i.e. collect info and compile reports
• Maintain fire safety by coordinating Emergency & Fire drills (complete post drill critique and order replacement of fire equipment).
• SHERQ specific data capturing – Disabling Incident Frequency Rate (DIFR) – collect monthly man-hours from Service Providers and Operations: update spread sheet).
• Record keeping (maintain Registers and Checklists).
• Prepare H&S presentation and take minutes of H&S Meetings.
• Assist with Incident Investigations.
• Assist in conducting safety risk assessments and carry out Planned Job Observations.
• H&S monitoring activities (ensure machine checklists are correctly completed, H & inspections are effectively carried out, environmental surveys are done and recommendations monitored).
• Assist in Health and Safety audits and follow up any actions.
• Housekeeping – encourage good housekeeping (check waste skips – product properly segregated).
• Control, order and issue PPE and 1st Aid equipment.
• IOD Administration [assist with Compensation Claim Handling – gathering documents and submitting them to WCA. liaising with Medico and Service Providers to ensure IODs are handled timeously and all supporting documents are available].
• Document Management [Incident Reports – ensure Managers submit incident reports on time and that all the relevant information and supporting documents are attached].
• Review relevant safety signage (keep sign register up-to-date) and update Safety 1st Boards.
• Review First Aid and spill kits (re-order as required).
Other Special Requirements;
• Bachelor’s degree in related field of study
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the freight / logistics industry.
• A good working knowledge of NOSA CMB253N.
• NOSA Certificate
• Experience SHERQ administration
• Training-NEBOSH or SAMTRAC, incident Investigation, HIRA
• Quality ISO9001: 2015 an advantage
