Role Overview
The Mechanic – HME will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) to ensure optimal functionality and safety. This role involves preventive and breakdown maintenance, conducting inspections, identifying faults, and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and efficiency. The position also requires compliance with safety and environmental regulations, risk assessment, and training team members on best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment
- Conduct equipment inspections to identify faults and ensure timely repairs
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, providing effective solutions
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all HME mobile equipment
- Monitor and manage performance of mobile equipment to achieve production goals
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and safety activities
- Assist in sourcing and procuring spare parts and equipment for maintenance
- Provide technical support and training to team members
- Contribute to workshop safety, organization, and efficiency
What We’re Looking For
- Technical Certificate, FTC, Diploma, or Trade Test Grade I, II, III in Mechanical or related field
- 6+ years of experience in HME maintenance, preferably in a mining environment
- Strong knowledge of heavy mobile equipment repair and maintenance
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve mechanical issues
- Familiarity with safety regulations and risk management in mining operations
- Valid driver’s license (if required)
