The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Position: Supervisor – Welding Shop

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To support Underground Heavy Mobile Equipment’s by ensuring all Mobile Equipment’s on site are maintained and provided in good condition to the underground operations team for safe and efficient use in achieving the business plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Minimum of Secondary School Education with Trade Test Grade One/level III or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in welding and fabrication.

EXPERIENCE:
• A Minimum of 2 years’ working experience in Underground environment.
• At least 2 years working experience as a supervisor.
• Must have a valid Tanzania driving license.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Support workforce to work safely by identifying and managing workplace hazards associated with the work being performed.
• Provide expert advice to maintenance supervisor and trades personnel engaged in the maintenance of the mining fleets and welding activities as directed by the Manager.
• Develop scope of work for major works associate with the welding works.
• Ensure work is performed to the acceptable safety quality standards and that best fitment and welding practices are adhered and imparted to the workforce.

• Maintain a register of training for maintainers and ensure the workforce can work without supervision.
• Continually check all work in progress by monitoring quality.
• Write report with photos on each major failure and document repairs regarding welding.
• Support the team to comply with the work schedule while attending to emerging work efficiently and to ensure availability and reliability of equipment, buckets and trays is optimized.
• Assist the team to develop work package and procedure for all work performed so that accurate work package is established for future work
• Work with the planning team to ensure more jobs are planned than unplanned while emphasizing. its importance to welding associated to jobs
• Assist to develop training matrix to subordinate in a collaboration with the welding senior supervisor and production plan.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, direct, motivate and a team of train personnel.
• High level of efficiency in driving compliance to OH&S and Environmental policies and company procedures.
• Effective critical thinking skills to reason and identify problems and concerns of alternative solutions to problems.
• Physically fit with the ability to work in remote locations, flexible in working hours and shifts undertaken.
• Committed to ongoing training and development with the ability to learn new skills quickly.
• Proven ability to multi-task with a high level of organization.
• Self-motivated, energetic, and results-driven with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
